2nd and 3rd Shift Production Supervisor

Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the induction heat treat and ancillary process performed through the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties that may be assigned.


Produces high quality parts in a positive and productive work environment


Meeting company and production goals


Identifies the need for protecting company interests


Identifies that he/she is a direct/sole representative of the company


Receives and reviews reports from group leaders of other shifts


Coordinates functions and communicates with others in plant departments and areas. Receives authority from the General Manager

Suggests hiring of new/additional employees


Present written recommendation for termination of employees or positions

Make decisions and takes necessary actions to maintain production operations

Delegates responsibilities and duties to subordinates in a positive and drama free work environment.

Understands and performs all duties assigned to subordinates


Sets-up machinery and maintains their records


Responsible for the production of parts meeting their specifications


Initiate actions to remedy out of spec. conditions Assure machine output is checked and records kept Enforce completion of all required documentation

Initiate actions to meet deadlines without jeopardizing plant operations or employee welfare


Respond to infractions of company policy and rules in a fair and consistent manner

Records and reports situations to management


Reports accidents resulting in injury to proper supervisor


Respond to emergency situations by initiating appropriate actions and responsibilities


Recognize and address tasks requiring extraordinary aspects for completion


Assures personnel maintain a neat and orderly facility


Is capable to perform inspections and monitor designated parameters -- Shipping area, General Maintenance, Receiving, Start-up & Shut Down


Oversee the training of new production employees


Receive proper safety training, particularly related to Fork truck Operation, Material Handling, and

Hoist Operation


Be willing to work in a team oriented environment


Perform any duties not listed, as assigned by supervisor


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages subordinate superiors
  • Overall supervision of production employees during each of the three production shifts
  • Oversees the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the shifts
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include assisting with the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance

instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

common fractions, and decimals

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs




Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations



Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Visual Shop ERP

System, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) be able to send and receive e-mail.
